Cacao is known as the “Food of the Gods” in south America. It is an incredibly nutritious superfood, high in anti-oxidants and minerals. It has been attributed with increasing mental focus and awareness and is said to help keep you happy because of the Anandamide and Phenylethlamine it contains.
The Cacao bean or seed comes from pods produced by the Cacao tree (Theombroma Cacao), which grows in south America. The beans were so highly valued they were used as a form of currency during the conquistador period. Cacao Nibs are the beans, which have been peeled and broken into smaller pieces.
Raw Cacao Nibs can be eaten by themselves. We like chew them slowly and savour the delicious chocolate taste. They can be added to fruit smoothies with other Superfoods like Maca pollen. We sprinkle a tablespoon of Cacao over muesli in the morning for extra wake-up boost. You can make a great crushed ice drink with rice or oat milk, Cacao Nibs and Vanilla extract. The possibilities are endless!
Our raw Cacao Nibs are the highest quality. You can tell this from their purple hues, rich flavour and crisp taste. They are grown in Oxapampa, an area in the Peruvian Central Amazon Rainforest region.
